Code of Conduct
When you sign up for and attend our group sessions, certain standards of conduct must be followed so all session members get the full benefit of the sessions, with their privacy and other rights respected. Before participating in a session, each Facilitator and session member must agree to the following rules of conduct during group sessions:
All Sessions (In-person and Remote):
1. Timeliness
Please make sure you join the session on time.
2. Confidentiality
Everything in the group session must remain confidential. What is said in group, stays in group! Specifically, you are not permitted to discuss or divulge, orally or in print, anything related to the identity of another session member or anything that occurred in group with respect to another session member. But you are free to discuss your own experience in the group session, the quality and name of the group leader and the nature of the group interchange and the ease of access to the group session.
3. Anonymity and Privacy
No session member is ever required to answer any question, to participate in any activity or to say anything. No reason needs to be provided.
Please respect all session members and facilitators in the session and their individual anonymity.
4. Respect
Members are expected to treat all fellow session members with respect and refrain from any acts that may cause shame, embarrassment or minimize the experiences of other members. Please do not insult other session members. If a comment offends you, notify the facilitator or the organization.
Any attempt to use someone’s insecurities or vulnerabilities for personal gain is considered manipulation or exploitation, and this is prohibited. Hate speech, discrimination, or other behaviour that incites hate or violence against individuals or groups of people based on who they are, their race, their sex, or their beliefs is prohibited. Posting any information of or regarding other members without their explicit written consent is prohibited.
Violence or intimidation toward other session members, as well as shouting and profanity, are never tolerated. Members should take turns speaking and not talk over one another. Session members should respect the rights of others to express their opinions.
If a session member has something to say about another session member, the member should say it directly to the member.
Please do not use the session to discuss or raise topics not related to the purpose of the session.
5. Safety
If you are a threat to yourself or others (showing suicidal or homicidal intent), your facilitator(s) may need to report your statements and/or behaviours to the Mind Axis leadership team, your family, your therapist or other appropriate mental health or law enforcement professionals in order to keep you and others safe.
Session members should not attend the group under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
6. Cancellation
If you sign up for a session, we expect you to attend. However, we understand circumstances change and you may no longer be able to attend the session. We request at least 24 hour notice of a cancellation where possible so that your spot can be offered to another person.
Remote Sessions Only:
1. Cameras and Attendance
When possible, we ask that sessions members turn on their cameras to encourage better participation amongst members. Members are expected to log in on time and remain for the entire session.
2. Focus
Turn off or disable any potential distractions, for example text messages, television in the background, or background noise from other people who are not attending the session.
3. Respect
Do not send messages that are hostile, insulting or harassing in any way to other members and/or facilitators.
Members should not respond to any messaging from non-members or non-facilitators during a session.
